Snap Your Bathroom. Let AI Make It a Spa.
Snap one photo of your bathroom, add the inspiration you saved on Pinterest, and let AI build two spa plans with an after picture for each: one with no drilling, one with drill and paint.
If you're anything like me, the bathroom is the only room in the house with a lock. It's where I take the call, steal four quiet minutes, and run a bath "for me" while someone knocks asking where the charger is.
So why did mine look like a drugstore aisle?
Here's what nobody tells you: the spa feeling is mostly light, towels, scent, and less on the counter. A lot of it needs zero tools. Some of it needs a drill and a can of paint. AI can map both, and show you the after picture for each before you lift a finger.
What I actually did
I snapped my bathroom. One photo, counter cleared.
I told it my feel. Not a style name. How I want to feel when I walk in.
I dropped in my inspiration. The bathrooms I'd been saving on Pinterest and Instagram and never did anything with.
I asked for two versions. One with no drilling at all. One where drilling and paint are on the table. Same look, each with its own final picture.
That last part is the whole move. Two plans, one look, and I decide how far I go this weekend.
Steal this prompt
Act as a designer who builds spa bathrooms for boutique hotels. I'm attaching a photo of my bathroom and a few inspiration photos I've saved. Before you suggest anything, ask me five questions, one at a time: who uses this room, what I want to feel when I walk in, what I love in my inspiration photos, what I refuse to give up on the counter, and when I want this done. Then give me two plans that land on the same look. PLAN 1, NO DRILL: nothing gets drilled, painted, or installed. Rank the changes by impact. Tell me what I probably already own somewhere else in my house that belongs in here. Give me a short shopping list. PLAN 2, DRILL AND PAINT: everything in Plan 1, plus the wall color, hardware, lighting, shelving, or mirror changes that take it all the way to my inspiration photos. Tell me which ones I can do myself and which need a pro. For each plan, show me an after image of MY bathroom, keeping my exact layout, window, and fixtures. End with a ten minute nightly reset so it stays this way.
Use voice mode and answer the questions out loud. ChatGPT and Gemini are strongest on the after images. Claude is great at the plan and the list.
What came back
Mine came back with two very different weekends.
The no drill plan. Warm bulbs instead of the blue-white ones. Towels in one color. Three things on the counter, everything else in a basket. Eucalyptus on the showerhead. A wood tray borrowed from my kitchen. Most of the look, zero tools.
The drill and paint plan. A warmer wall color, a bigger mirror, new hardware, and a shelf for rolled towels. That's the version that actually looked like my Pinterest board.
Seeing both after pictures side by side made the call easy. I knew exactly what the drill was buying me.
Shop your house first
Before you buy a thing, ask: "What in the rest of my house could finish this room?" A tray from the kitchen. The linen basket from the guest room. A little stool. Half my spa was already in my house, just in the wrong rooms.
Insider stuff
- Clean the frame. Labels, prescriptions, anything personal: out of the photo. The AI only needs the room.
- Lock the layout. The after image will happily invent a window you don't have. Tell it to keep your exact layout and fixtures.
- Two to three inspiration photos, not twenty. Pick the ones that make you exhale. Too many and the plan turns into soup.
- Sharing with kids? Say so. You'll get one bin for bath toys and a shelf they can reach.
- Re-photo in two weeks. Same chat. Ask what slipped.
- Add the ritual. Ask for a twenty minute Sunday night bath routine to match the room.
The quick version
- One photo of your bathroom, counter cleared.
- Two or three inspiration photos.
- Tell it your feel, let it interview you.
- Ask for a no drill plan and a drill and paint plan, each with an after picture.
- Shop your house first. Do the top three this weekend.
The point isn't a prettier bathroom. It's four minutes behind a locked door that actually feel like a break. More of those, please.
FAQ
Can AI design my bathroom from one photo?
It can't measure, but it can see your light, layout, clutter, and color, which is where most of the spa feeling lives. Add two or three inspiration photos and it knows exactly where you're headed.
Which AI is best for designing a bathroom?
ChatGPT and Gemini are strongest at showing you an after image of your actual room. Claude is great at the plan and the shopping list. The prompt works in all of them.
Do I need to drill or paint to get a spa bathroom?
No. Lighting, towels, scent, and a cleared counter get you most of the look with zero tools. Paint, a bigger mirror, and new hardware take it the rest of the way. Ask AI for both plans and decide how far you want to go.
Is it safe to upload a photo of my bathroom to AI?
Clear the counter of labels, prescriptions, and anything personal first. The AI only needs the room. More on that in is AI safe for moms.
